Pharrell Williams: Frontin’ As My Style Inspiration
i have always been a fan of Pharrell Williams and i could declare my love for him and his work (really! haha.). i consider him a Renaissance Man because he has proven himself an artist even outside music. he continues to push the boundaries of his talents because aside from being a Grammy Award Winning producer, he is also a singer, songwriter, musician, rapper, fashion designer, entrepreneur, author, and so on! phew! and can you believe he just turned 40?!? i wish i could look and be as cool as him when i turn 40!
i consider Pharrell as one my style icons and inspirations because he is very experimental with his style, just like with his work. he isn’t afraid to get creative with his outfits! Pharrell recently modeled for a clothing line he co-owns, Billionaire Boys Club, together with pieces from another clothing line named BAPE. i’d like to share with you the photos i found online because this is another showcase of his superb personal style. i doubt that he needed a stylist for this shoot!

who says you can’t model clothes like this at 40? not Pharrell! he is after all, considered one of the Best Dressed Men in America.
maybe i should post Pharrell-inspired outfits soon? in the meantime, here i am having fun in Angkor What? (a bar in Cambodia) last year, wearing a Pharrell Williams tank top i bought in Bangkok. it’s now one of my most overused clothing pieces. you don’t have to ask why. haha!
shout out to MY Renaissance Man and Style Icon, Pharrell Williams! i hope i meet you one day (dreaming…)! :)

Layering for HK’s Cool Weather
last January, my mom, aunts, and i had a trip to Hong Kong. although i’m itching to post a couple of photos from that trip, let me start with an outfit post during one of our days there. i hope you don’t mind! hehe.

Zara leather jacket, F&H top, Uniqlo leggings, Nike legwarmers, Zara boots, H&M sling bag, Baguio beanie, gifted scarf and Old Navy shopper’s bag
the summer heat is intense so i kind of miss dressing up for Hong Kong’s cool weather. oh well! gotta be thankful for what we have right? hehe.

hope y’all are having a fun summer! ;)
Army Brights

top used as dress from BKK, skirt from SG, Zara jacket, Topshop boots, DKNY shades, Marc Ecko watch, and studded bracelets from BKK
before anything else, this is a late outfit post from last year! hehe. i wanted to play down the colors of my outfit so i wore it with my army green jacket. again, this is my technique of making my outfit not “too girly” by adding boyish pieces like the jacket, my dad’s old shades, and boots. the top is actually a short dress that i’ve already worn previously. i wanted to wear it in a different way so i tucked it in my pleated skirt.
i love wearing boots with skirts or dresses so this was an instant match. those boots are so overused but it just goes with almost anything in my closet! oh how i truly love wearing boots! i easily get attracted to boots of various shapes and colors. who doesn’t? ;)
i urge you to wear boots with your skirts and dresses often! also try “breaking” a colorful outfit by adding darker colored pieces.

My Top 5 Best Dressed from the 2013 Oscars
even if almost everyone has already given their Best Dressed lists from the Oscars, i shall still share my Top 5 Best Dressed women from that glorious event. better late than never, right?
my Top 1 is the forever young and alluring, Charlize Theron. she even looks better and younger than the way younger actresses there! no fair. haha! and that cropped ‘do went well with her entire look! when i saw her on the red carpet, i was so stunned! she looked so divine and elegant. now that’s a WOW factor. she was wearing a Dior Haute Couture gown.
my Top 2 is the uber cool Oscars Best Actress awardee, J Law! i guess her promising talent comes with style, don’t you think? i’ve read that she has hired Rachel Zoe to be her stylist and you can’t go wrong with that decision! like Charlize, she also wore a Dior Haute Couture gown that was such a winning choice! i also loved her “backlace”. a new trend will start; just wait and see.
my Top 3 is the talented and versatile Oscars Best Supporting Actress awardee, Anne Hathaway. i really don’t understand why a lot are hating on her and what she wore during the Oscars. she deserved all her awards and it really showed in her portrayal of Fantine. i remember doubting her as Catwoman but i was surprised on how well she did it. it was her own version yet she still stayed true to the character’s slyness and sexiness. anyway, going back to her Oscars gown, she wore Prada. many didn’t like it but i feel it was a bold choice. and please, those weren’t her nipples showing, that’s just how the light hit the bust darts of her gown. also, it was reminiscent of 90s gown styles in a positive way, of course. what a great way to also break a style rule by wearing a princess necklace with a halter cut gown! oh, and i also loved the gown change in her Les Miserables production number! that was Giorgio Armani. i feel it kind of upstaged her Oscars gown but still, she took the risk! now that’s versatility.
my Top 4 choice is one of the Best Actress nominees, Jessica Chastain. what a gorgeous woman with that body to match! her look had a touch of old Hollywood. the dress highlighted her curves and she didn’t have to wear much jewelry as her dress already sparkled on the red carpet. she wore Armani Prive.
my Top 5 is the forever charming, Jennifer Garner! she wore a plum Gucci gown that showed her toned arms and svelte body even after having three kids (note to self: be physically fit forever!). i loved the ruffles at the back of her gown. they were dramatic and served as an update to the usual serpentina gown. her jewelry and clutch matched the entire look. now that’s a charm!
it really is a fashion feast during awards season. everybody looks so damn gorgeous and you are just so inspired with what everyone is wearing. anyway, that wraps up my Top 5 Best Dressed from this year’s Oscars! how i wish i could get to style a Hollywood celebrity for the Oscars and choose among all those beautiful designer gowns, shoes, clutches, and jewelry! how about you (hey, anyone is free to dream! haha!)? who were your picks that night?

Cambodia June 2012: Part 3
yes my friends, this is the third and last part of my Cambodia trip last year in June (time to move on to a new topic! hehe.). our last day was dedicated to making the most out of our hotel’s amenities, enjoy the nearby places, eat at a nice restaurant or cafe, and do some last-minute shopping.
despite sleeping late the previous night, we made sure we didn’t party too much so we could wake up early just in time for the breakfast buffet.

some of us took a dip in the pool afterwards. talk about maximizing time!

before having our lunch out, we already had to fix our things and pack to avoid any “Home Alone” (movie) stress in preparing for our flight back. we also had to say goodbye to our lovely villa, the hotel, and take as many photos as we want while still in the area.
a comfortable outfit will always be a travel essential! leave the fussy outfits at home and make sure to pack clothes that are light and suitable to the country’s weather and your activities while there. (wearing a Uniqlo tank, Cotton On harems, Chucks, and H&M bag)
we went back to Pub Street to savor the last hours of our stay. we had lunch at The Red Piano, a restaurant where Angelina Jolie and her Tomb Raider crew frequented while filming the movie. the interiors gave off a cool vibe that i couldn’t help but take photos of. i didn’t want to order a hefty meal as i was still full from breakfast, so i just went with their chicken salad sandwich buns. i believe they were just right for my full stomach. haha!

after lunch, my friends and i made our last minute purchases in the market and had coffee and snacks at Le Grand Cafe. we did our best in making the most of our last day and i was pretty much satisfied with how it went. i will miss Cambodia!
how i wish our trip were longer because i’m sure we still haven’t seen a lot during our stay. Cambodia was quite the experience and i’d always want to say that when visiting other countries or cities. my friends and i are looking forward to our next trip and we’re hoping in a country we all haven’t been to so that we could discover and marvel as a group! haha. traveling will always be a dream and i’m so happy to be going places i thought i’d never be in. anyway, why not book your ticket to Cambodia now and have your own experience of it, ‘eh?
Hello 2013!
before adding to my pile of delayed posts (guilty much?), i’d like to greet you all a Happy and Blessed New year! until now, i’m still not over the fact that 2012 has already ended! i always wish time could slow down a bit and one reason is because i don’t want to turn a year older! hehe. anyway, i wish you all had a wonderful time during the holidays with the people closest to your hearts.
i want to go all the way dramatic with my New Year’s post but it would take more time to compose a well-written blog entry (choice of photos included) with a review of the previous year and what-not. so i’m reserving that for another post! in the meantime, let me share with you some photos (including Instagram photos) from my recent Holiday celebrations with family and friends.
my barkada had our annual Christmas party and we decided on a “Crazy, Colorful Christmas” theme. Nicki Minaj was obviously our major inspiration! my outfit was of course Nicki Minaj-inspired but i added a twist to it; i looked to Minnie Mouse for finishing touches! haha.
Christmas Eve (until the early hours of Christmas day) is usually spent with family at home. we hear mass, Mom prepares Noche Buena, the family dines together, then we exchange gifts. this Christmas routine has become part of our tradition (with added quick visits to relatives) and every year, i feel blessed to be doing so. i will forever be grateful to spend Christmas with mom, dad and my siblings. as they say, nothing beats family!

sorry to be cheesy but i just had to add this photo i took of my mom and dad last Christmas (pardon the blurry image as i am using my mom’s extra camera for the meantime because my camera is still under repair). despite the poor quality of the image, their smiles still radiate (i love you mom and dad!)!
as for my Christmas outfit, i already had this colorful jumpsuit in mind but i wanted to tame it down by wearing a blazer and nude heels. i wanted a festive look, which wasn’t over-the-top (again, sorry for the last crappy photo!). vote for this look in my Chictopia account: www.chictopia.com/nasche!
Mango blazer, H&M jumpsuit, Pedro heels, and Kenneth Cole watch
we greeted the New Year at my grandparents’ like we usually do. some of our relatives weren’t present, which was kind of sad, but i still enjoyed my time with them. for me, the most important part of the celebration was the thanksgiving and prayers because we owe everything to God.

another memorable holiday season has passed and i am so thankful i was present in almost all the parties and gatherings i was invited and required to go to! the season may have hurt my wallet (haha!) and i fought almost getting sick, but i’m happy i spent time with my family, friends, and all the people who matter most to me.
the celebrations may be over and i haven’t quite gotten over it, but i know i’ll find strength in the coming days and months to get on with 2013. i’m honestly nervous with what 2013 has in store for me but i lift it up to no one else but Him. here’s to a healthy, successful, and blessed 2013 to us all! :)
People Asia Oct-Nov 2012: Sign of the Cruz
hellooooooooooooooooooo!!! as i’ve mentioned previously, i’ve been so busy with work that i’m currently catching up on sleep as well as this blog! haha. how i’ve missed updating my blog! finally, i found time! yipeeeeeee!
one Sunday, I went to Tagaytay with the People Asia team to shoot the “Lord of Scents”, Joel Cruz. our location was none other than in his Tagaytay mansion. Sir Joel made sure we felt at home. he gave us a tour around his mansion and ate with us for merienda to tell us bits and pieces of his life. his journey towards a fruitful career and perfume business is truly inspirational. it was quite a memorable shoot because the team bonded through non-stop jokes, anecdotes, “realizations” and relentless laughter, especially on our way back home.
the shoot came out in the October-November 2012 issue of People Asia (with Leni Robredo on the cover). if you still see it in bookstores or newsstands, please grab a copy! many thanks again to the People Asia team and to Kristel Lagorza!

during the shoot, i had the opportunity to have my outfit shots taken in front of one of Sir Joel’s walls in his mansion. i just found it as a nice background, as if i were travelling. hehe. the photos are just a few ‘coz i was a bit shy. now they’ll know that it’s for my blog and not ‘coz i was being vain! haha.
i wanted to wear an outfit that would be appropriate for the Tagaytay weather so i opted for my trusty denim polo shirt, my Americana jeans, and my low-heeled booties. a fuss-free outfit is best when styling at a shoot because it requires you to move a lot and “get your hands dirty”.
sorry for the blurry shot! told you i was getting shy already! haha.
i just wore a few accessories (just my watch and a wrap bracelet) because wearing too many while styling can be such a hassle.
from Greenhills denim polo, Topshop pants, Zara boots, Kenneth Cole watch, and from a bazaar bracelet

until my next post, guys! i hope i could really get to post more often and try not to neglect my beloved blog. hehe.
Nicki Minaj LIVE in Manila!
i was so lucky to be one of those who got to watch Nicki Minaj, live, during her concert last July 11 at the SM MOA concert arena. it was timely for me to upgrade my Globe plan, which made me qualify to get tickets for the concert! i LOVE Nicki Minaj and her music and i felt that this was a post-birthday gift for me. i got two Patron tickets and even if we frowned at not having actual seats during the concert (we were standing the whole time because they didn’t take out the chairs for the Patron seats!), i still had a blast singing, rapping, and dancing to Nicki’s songs. thank you for this, Globe! Nicki, PLEASE come back to Manila soon!!!
excited gangster pose!
the All Stars doing a number. i used to take their hip-hop dance classes! i miss those days…
everyone went wild with Nicki’s opening number!
NEONNNN

Nicki’s version of the Barbie house
i envied the lucky fans who were called on-stage!!!
wild crowd, once again, when Nicki sang Super Bass!
as for my concert outfit, i took inspiration from Nicki’s love for anything outrageous and funky- including neon.
i still wanted my look to be urban and street so i played down the neon hoodie with drop crotch pants and my favorite knee-high boots. i used a hot pink sling bag as a contrast to the outfit (plus, Nicki loves pink too!). i also made sure i was wearing something comfortable because i knew i would dance that night (which i did!). ;p
Nike hoodie, Oxygen drop crotch pants, Puma boots, Dorothy Perkins sling bag, and Lego watch

MEG Magazine 14th Anniversary Party
my friend and co-stylist, Bianca (Binx to me), and i attended the MEG Anniversary Party last June 21. it was held at Seventh High and the dress code was to wear red. aside from celebrating their 14th anniversary, they launched the girls who will be included in their upcoming reality TV show, “I Am Meg: Own The World In Style”. this show will be premiering on September 8, so all you Meg fans and fashionistas better watch out for it!
Bianca and i in our red outfits
Patty Laurel hosted the program
the girls strutting their stuff on the runway!
the girls you will be seeing on the show
they chose one more girl to join the finalists
Binx and i’s heels (love her snakeskin peeptoe pumps!)
congratulations Meg Magazine for a successful event and to your upcoming reality show! cheers!
as for what i wore that night, i instantly thought of what red pieces i had in my closet. sadly, i don’t have much red clothes. i took out my only red dress that my dad bought me years ago and decided to wear it as a top, to make it look “new”. i converted a printed maxi dress that i had, into a skirt, and secured it with a belt. i felt that the print went well with my dress-turned-top. i accessorized with black and gold to make the look quirky yet sophisticated. don’t fret when you seem to not know what to wear to a party or event, you can always look thru your clothes and wear them in a variety of ways. simply experiment! ;)
(sorry, i look like a robot here! haha.)
